Greek Olive Oils Triumph at JOOP 2025 International Competition in Tokyo

G-TEAM from Greece won the Best of Polyphenol award with their HYPERELON ULTRA GOLD, recognizing exceptional polyphenol content and health properties.

In the Design Award, Yiayia and friends by Nacaro foods P.C. took 3rd place, highlighting the strong aesthetic and communicative value of Greek olive oil packaging.

Additionally, Terra Creta Organic EVOO by Melissa – Kikizas SA was named Best of Greece.

International Recognition and Market Growth

The competition serves as a key platform for producers to access the sophisticated Japanese market. According to the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan, winners receive year-round promotion, including at Foodex Japan, Asia’s largest agri-food fair.

The Japanese extra virgin olive oil market continues to expand, growing from approximately 280 million euros in 2023 to 307 million euros in 2024 (+9.6%), with projections exceeding 337 million euros in 2025.

An international jury of 12 experts, including Greek judge Stamoula Karambelas, evaluated the entries through blind tasting following the highest international standards.

Design Award Highlights

The JOOP Design Award, running since 2020, celebrates packaging, labels, and bottle design. Italy took 1st place, Portugal 2nd, and Greece 3rd with Yiayia and friends.

The awards ceremony took place in Tokyo’s vibrant Aoyama design district, bringing together producers, designers, buyers, and enthusiasts.
