Tunisia’s Terra Delyssa Extra Virgin Olive Oil debuts in Nigerian market

CIBA Hospitality Limited has launched the Terra Delyssa Extra Virgin Olive Oil brand from Tunisia into the Nigerian olive oil market.

Speaking at the launch ceremony in Lagos, Executive Director, CIBA Hospitality Limited, Dr. Ade Adegbite said the new product was produced from a blend of Chemlali and Chetoui olives, with Chemlali serving as the dominant variety.

According to him, the product is available in four variants: Smooth Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Lemon, Garlic and Chili Pepper flavours.

He noted that the blend delivers a unique flavour profile while preserving the rich qualities of Tunisian olive oil and ensuring consistent quality.

He pointed out that Terra Delyssa is a global olive oil brand with a growing international presence.

He said: “The Terra Delyssa brand we are launching today is a Tunisian brand that is no longer made only for Tunisians. It has become a global brand with footprints in more than 50 countries around the world”.

According to him, Terra Delyssa is currently the number one selling olive oil brand in Canada, ranks second in France, among the top three in Sweden and is the fourth best-selling olive oil brand in the United States.

“That tells you it is one of the fastest-growing olive oil brands globally,” Adegbite said.

He noted that the brand’s heritage dates back more than 300 years, describing it as a transgenerational asset of Tunisian origin that has gained international recognition.

He said: “We are pleased to bring this product to Nigeria through our trading arm, CIBA Hospitality Limited, which is the sole distributor and marketer of the brand in Nigeria”.

Adegbite explained that the company is initially targeting the premium segment of the Nigerian market in order to build awareness of the product’s quality and health benefits before expanding into the wider consumer market.

He said the company expected consumer attitudes towards olive oil to improve as more people become aware of its nutritional and cooking benefits.

He outlined a distribution strategy that would focus on supermarkets and shopping malls including Justrite and Spar, while also leveraging e-commerce platforms and direct sales channels to deepen market penetration.

According to him, Lagos and Abuja would serve as the first phase of the rollout before expansion to other parts of the country.

“At Terra Delyssa, transparency is at the heart of everything we do. Every bottle tells a story, from the careful harvest in our groves through meticulous milling and analysis to the final bottling,” Adegbite said.

He added that consumers can scan the QR code on each bottle to trace the product’s journey from orchard to table, giving them direct access to information about its heritage, quality and authenticity.

Terra Delyssa was founded in 1996 by the CHO Group, a major integrated player in the olive oil industry with operations spanning branded products, private label and bulk production. The company’s end-to-end control of its operations, from cultivation to bottling, is designed to ensure quality, traceability and sustainable growth.
